Our Story
Surge Climate Talent was originally incubated as the Climate Talent Initiative by the Growald Climate Fund to bolster organizations spearheading the energy transition movement.
In 2024, it spun out as an independent entity.
Why we Exist
Given the urgency of climate change, there has been a surge in the number of organizations stepping up to address the challenge. This has led to exponential growth in the demand for skilled climate talent that can help scale and drive organizations towards their missions. Talent has become a major constraint to scaling climate action.
On the other hand, around the world, untold numbers of skilled professionals across sectors and career levels are hearing the call that addressing climate change is one of the foremost needs of this century and they are ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and commit their careers to this mission.
Surge Climate Talent is determined to overcome this supply-demand mismatch, by developing, supporting and de-risking pathways for skilled talent to enter the global climate change workforce. We endeavor to identify, incubate, and scale impactful climate talent solutions in order to address critical talent and leadership gaps within the climate sector. We do this by:
Building a strong pipeline of diverse talent to staff and start climate organizations
Supporting organizations in fulfilling their ambitions for scale by addressing talent barriers
Increasing the role and leadership of those most impacted by the climate crisis to accelerate the clean energy transition.
